"This is a great tool for hitters of all ages." - Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox

9 Reasons This Training Bat Helps You Hit More Line Drives With Less Effort

Here's why hitters from youth to the Big Leagues use this training bat before every game...

Title

1. It unlocks power you didn't know you had

Muscling up and hitting cage bombs is fun, but it doesn't translate to games. The Thick Grip Bat trains the kind of power coaches want and scouts look for. The kind of power that looks easy so you can maximize power without sacrificing contact.

2. It gives you instant bat path feedback

It doesn't matter how hard you can hit the ball if your bat path is off. If you roll over, uppercut, or swing down on the ball, the Thick Grip makes you sure you feel it so you can fix it the next swing and stop bad habits from developing.

3. It helps you reduce weak contact & strikeouts

Since the grip is so thick, it doesn’t let you get handsy and pull off the ball. It also doesn’t let you get big and swing up on the ball. Instead, it forces you to let your body do what it’s supposed to do. This means less rollovers and strikeouts, and more hard contact.

4. It builds core & grip strength every time you swing it

Just from swinging this bat, your forearms and grip strength improve. The bat forces you to use your body right when you swing, which builds your core strength too. It turns your gym strength into explosive swing power - so you're not the guy who can lift heavy but can't hit the ball hard.

5. It was created by a World Series Winning Hitting Coach

Donnie Ecker took the Giants from last in the NL in runs (2019) to second place (2021) and won Coach of the Year. He helped the Rangers win the 2023 World Series. After decades of training elite hitters, he saw young players being taught wrong. So he created a training bat that fixes what's broken in modern hitting instruction.

6. It makes pulling the ball with backspin easier

Most hitters struggle to pull the ball with carry. They either roll over inside pitches or get jammed. The Thick Grip fixes your bat path so you can turn on inside pitches with backspin. Instead of weak grounders to shortstop, you'll drive balls with carry to the pull side.

7. It automatically fixes your sequencing

Most hitters struggle with sequencing. When to fire the hips, when the hands follow, what moves first. The Thick Grip takes care of all that. It forces your body to move in the right order without you having to think about it. Your body learns the correct sequence naturally.

8. You can use it with real baseballs

Most training bats force you to use foam balls. Not the Thick Grip. You can use it with real baseballs, so you get the most gamelike reps possible.

9. It's perfect for tee work, flips, and batting practice

Use it on the tee to adjust mechanics and get better barrel feel. Take it to front toss and flips for more game-like reps. Bring it to BP or machine work to expose swing flaws so you can fix them faster.

What Hitters Say About The Thick Grip Bat

"The Thick Grip Bat has helped me hold my upper body shapes and move from the middle. It is a great training tool for ball players at any level."

Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox

"The Thick Grip helps me stay through the ball and avoid rolling over...that's why it's a part of my cage routine."

Josh Jung, Texas Rangers

"Nolan Gorman and I will be adding them to the routine. They're awesome."

Brendan Donovan, St Louis Cardinals

"It keeps me tight to the ball and helps me pull the ball with backspin."

“The first thing I noticed about the Thick Grip is you can’t get long and disconnected with this bat. It keeps me tight to the ball and helps me pull the ball with backspin. That’s why I use this bat every time that I hit.”

Tristan Bissetta, Clemson University

"...you don’t have to think about the adjustments you’re trying to make."

“I used to topspin balls pullside and flare balls the other way. This bat helped me clean up my bat path and ball flight so I can drive balls to all fields with backspin. It’s different from other trainers I’ve used because It forces you to self organize and you don’t have to think about the adjustments you’re trying to make.“

Jake Kulikowski, University of Miami

"It’s the best bat on the market right now."

“The #1 reason I use the Thick Grip is it puts my body in the right position to do damage. If you want a training bat that’s easy to use and helps you hit the ball with carry, you have to get this. It’s the best bat on the market right now."

Bryce Blaser, Univ of Louisiana Monroe

"Should I Get the Adult or Youth Model?"

The main difference between youth and adult models is handle diameter. Youth bats (up to 31") have smaller handles designed for younger hands to maintain full control.

If your player swings a 29-30" game bat: Get the youth model in the same length as their game bat. Donnie Ecker recommends matching your Thick Grip length to your game bat length.

If your player is 13+ and growing: You have options. Bigger kids with stronger hands can handle the adult model and grow into it. Otherwise, stick with the 30" or 31" youth model.

Handle sizes:

Youth: 1.75" diameter (all lengths)

Adult: 1.75" diameter (30", 31") or 1.95" diameter (32", 33", 34")

Drop weights:

Youth: Around +6

Adult: +8 to +10

When in doubt, go with the youth model in your game bat length. You can always upgrade as they grow.
